Abduction: Catholic Diocese in Niger releases full list of 50 St. Mary’s students who escaped

The Catholic Diocese of Kontagora in Niger state has published the names of 50 students from St. Mary’s School, located in Papiri within Agwara LGA, who have made it out of captivity.
Armed attackers stormed the school on November 21, seizing 315 people — a group comprising 303 pupils and 12 teachers.
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state earlier disclosed that fifty of those abducted students had managed to escape. According to the association, the students regained their freedom between Friday and Saturday and “quietly reunited with their families”.
Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, CAN chairman in Niger and the Catholic bishop of the Kontagora diocese, explained that the escaped students did not return to the school immediately. He said officials later traced them after establishing contact with some of their parents.
