Troops dislodge rampaging Boko Haram terrorists from Borno community

Troops under the North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have forced Boko Haram terrorists out of a community in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The attackers had invaded the area, setting homes and vehicles on fire, including one belonging to the Civilian JTF. Soldiers, however, moved in quickly and pushed the insurgents out.
Confirming the development, the Executive Chairman of Magumeri, Hon. Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, said the fighters slipped into the town on Saturday night.
“The terrorists fled out of the town at about 3:am on Sunday after they were overwhelmed. Unfortunately, they set ablaze residential houses and other property. But no life was lost.
“Our gallant troops and members of Civilian JTF, Hunters and Volunteers responded to distress calls and successfully repelled the rampaging terrorists,” he said.
He praised the security teams for their swift and coordinated action, noting that “normalcy gradually returns in the town”.
Boko Haram and ISWAP elements have recently stepped up assaults on both military and civilian targets across Borno. In two separate incidents, the military lost two commanding officers who were leading clearance operations in Bama and Damboa.
Following weeklong visits by the Army and Air Force Chiefs to the region, a new coordinated strategy was reportedly adopted to combat the insurgents. Troops also reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding communities in the North East, while the service chiefs pledged improved welfare for personnel on the frontlines.
