Another northern state orders shutdown of boarding schools over security concerns

The Yobe State government has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools as a precautionary step to protect students, coming less than a day after a similar directive was issued in Taraba State.
The decision was reached during a security meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni alongside heads of security agencies in the state, where they reviewed recent security incidents affecting schools in parts of the country.
According to a notice issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar, all boarding secondary schools are to shut down with immediate effect until the situation improves.
Governor Buni urged residents to continue praying for the state’s leadership, security personnel, and for lasting peace and stability across the country.
