Mass killings : Trump doubles down on Nigeria’s attack , says ‘country a disgrace’ – Trump

United States President, Donald Trump, has sharply criticised Nigeria, saying the federal government has failed to curb the persistent wave of deadly attacks across the country.
Speaking on The Brian Kilmeade Show on Fox News Radio on Friday, Trump described Nigeria as “a disgrace,” accusing authorities of not doing enough to protect citizens.
“I think Nigeria is a disgrace. The whole thing is a disgrace. They’re killing people by the thousands. It’s a genocide. And I’m really angry about it,” he said.
“And we pay, you know, we give a lot of subsidy to Nigeria which we’re going to end up stopping.
“The government’s done nothing. They are very ineffective. They’re killing Christians at will. And you know until I got involved in it two weeks ago — nobody even talked about it.”
His remarks follow heightened scrutiny in the US over the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, where armed groups, bandits and extremist cells continue to carry out mass killings, kidnappings and village raids.
On Friday, gunmen stormed St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary School in Papiri, Agwarra LGA of Niger state. The state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria reported that 315 people — including 303 students and 12 teachers — were abducted during the attack.
According to Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the state police command, tactical units, military formations and other security agencies have already been deployed to the area.
The incident occurred barely days after 25 female students were seized from Government Girls Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi state. During that attack, Hassan Makuku, the school’s vice-principal, was killed, while Ali Shehu, a security guard, sustained gunshot wounds to his right hand.
On November 1, Trump had also threatened possible military intervention in Nigeria over what he described as the persecution of Christians.
