Recover General Uba ‘dead or alive’ from terrorists, Ndume tells FG

Senator Mohammed Ndume of Borno South has urged the Federal Government and security operatives to intensify efforts to locate Brigadier General Musa Uba, Commander of the 25 Brigade, after reports indicated he was abducted during a confrontation with Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Ndume also appealed for renewed action to secure the 25 schoolgirls seized on Sunday from the Government Girls Comprehensive School in Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
General Uba was said to have been taken captive amid a military engagement with insurgents around Wajiroko in Azir Multe, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Although military headquarters in Abuja dismissed the alleged abduction, maintaining the senior officer returned safely to base, unverified video clips purportedly released by the terrorists have sparked public concern.
Ndume, who previously chaired the Senate Committee on Army, warned that deteriorating security conditions across parts of the North West and North East—driven by terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry—demand urgent and coordinated attention.
He stated: “I am compelled to issue this statement concerning the abduction and whereabouts of Brigadier General Musa Uba and the 25 females of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, by terrorists. Let the government and our security agencies act quickly to bring back the Brigade Commander dead or alive.
“I also call on authorities to intensify efforts to safely rescue all the abducted schoolgirls. Bringing them back would help minimize the trauma faced by their families, friends, and Nigerians in general.”
While commending the commitment of military personnel and other security forces tackling Boko Haram and allied criminal groups, the senator prayed for divine support for both federal and state authorities striving to curb terrorism, abductions, and banditry nationwide.
