Wike’s aide mocks PDP convention, says it’s ‘Dirty December in November’

Lere Olayinka, who serves as Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has taken a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party’s ongoing national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a post on his X account on Saturday, Olayinka derisively referred to the gathering as “Dirty December in November.”
“They went to Ibadan to start Dirty December in November. When people decide to start their own Dirty December in November, one can’t help but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths,” he wrote.
His remarks were in response to reports that delegates at the convention had resolved to expel his principal, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose; PDP National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu; and the party’s Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade.
Also listed for expulsion were the PDP National Organising Secretary, Umaru Bature; former South-South National Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih; South-South Zonal Secretary, George Turner; North Central Vice Chairman and factional Acting National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed; Imo State Chairman, Austin Nwachukwu; former presidential aspirant and factional Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa; and Abia PDP Chairman, Abraham Ammah.
Describing the event as a “social party,” Olayinka further alleged that the delegates had become “intoxicated” and were simply making unfounded declarations.
“They gathered in Ibadan to do a social party, enjoyed themselves, and got intoxicated; they are free to say anything,” he added.
More than 3,000 delegates are attending the two-day convention, scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, despite subsisting court orders seeking to halt the exercise.
