Passengers stranded as Kaduna-Abuja train suffers mid-trip breakdown

Passengers traveling on the Kaduna-Abuja train were left stranded on Thursday after the train developed a fault shortly after departure from Kaduna.
The train, which departed Kaduna a few minutes past 2 p.m., reportedly ran into mechanical issues about an hour into the journey and was forced to return to Kaduna.
According to a report by LEADERSHIP, a passenger on board, who spoke but requested anonymity, said the train crew was unable to immediately explain the cause of the problem before the train began reversing toward Kaduna midway through the trip.
A staff member of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) in Kaduna, who also declined to be named, confirmed that the train left for its 2 p.m. schedule but had to return after developing a fault en route.
“The train left for the 2 p.m. schedule but encountered problems on the road and returned back to Kaduna for repairs,” the NRC staff told our correspondent.
He added that many Abuja-bound passengers were left waiting at the Kaduna train station in hopes that repairs would be completed quickly, while others decided to return home.
