Wike UAG hails Nigerian military for exemplary discipline respect

The Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) has applauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for upholding the values of discipline and respect, describing them as the foundation of the military’s success in peacekeeping missions and its growing international reputation.

UAG Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, made the commendation on Thursday while reacting to a recent altercation in Abuja between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and a naval officer, Lieutenant Commander Yerima.

The group expressed regret over the incident but praised the naval officer for maintaining a calm and disciplined disposition throughout the encounter.

According to Aigbedion, the officer’s conduct reflects the ethos of professionalism and respect instilled within the ranks of the Armed Forces under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede.

“”UAG describes the incident between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and a naval officer, Lieutenant Commander Yerima, at a disputed site in Abuja as unfortunate, especially when both have a common head in the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.

“We however commend the discipline and respect shown by the young officer. His attitude during the altercation with the Honourable Minister is a reflection of what has endeared our troops in and outside the country.

“He has shown that the Armed Forces, under the able leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, are disciplined”.

” UAG is confident that the AFN, under the present CDS, will continue to show respect to constituted authorities and the President and Commander in Chief, Bola Tinubu,” it said.

The group also called on Nigerians to continue supporting the military in its efforts to safeguard peace, unity, and national stability.

“UAG urge Nigerians to continue to support our troops. They are making sacrifices for peace, unity and stability. We must support and encourage them,” the group added.
