JUST IN Yilwatda Barau Gbajabiamila Ganduje witness defection of 2 Kano NNPP Reps to APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside key party leaders, on Thursday, stormed the House of Representatives chamber to witness the official defection of two lawmakers from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the APC.

Those present included the Deputy President of the Senate, Jibril Barau; the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; and former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Their attendance underscored the significance of the event for the ruling party.

The defecting lawmakers are Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, and Hon. Sagir Koki, the representative of Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, both from Kano State.

In their separate letters read by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the lawmakers cited unresolved crisis and internal divisions within their former party as reasons for their defections to the APC.

The minority of the House, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, consistently a raised point of order throughout the reading of the letters and reception of the defectors, but he was not recognised by Speaker Abbas.
