Man reportedly dies after checking into brothel in Port Harcourt

A tragic incident occurred in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after a yet-to-be-identified man reportedly collapsed and died shortly after checking into a brothel located along Azikiwe Street, Mile 2 Diobu.

According to eyewitness accounts, the man arrived at the brothel on Sunday to meet with some commercial sex workers but suddenly slumped and became unresponsive. He was immediately rushed to hospital but was confirmed death on arrival.

Sources told Daily Trust that moments before the incident, the deceased had a brief altercation with one of the attendants at the brothel. However, the cause of his death remains unclear as of the time of this report.

The Rivers State Police Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

It was gathered that a male suspect has been arrested and taken into custody by the police for questioning over the incident.

SP Iringe-Koko added that the Azikiwe Police Division handed over the case to the SCID for discreet investigation.

Meanwhile, some commercial sex workers who operate around the brothel were said to have fled the area following the incident.
