Police arrest robbery suspect, uncover pistol hidden in loaf of bread

The Delta State Police Command has taken into custody a suspected armed robber, identified as Stanley Chibuike, after officers reportedly found a pistol concealed inside a loaf of bread.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday in Asaba by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe.
He said, “On November 6, 2025, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, Delta State Command, while conducting a routine stop-and-search operation at Koka Roundabout, Asaba, intercepted a young man whose suspicious behaviour prompted a thorough search.
“In the course of the search, a fabricated Beretta pistol was discovered carefully concealed inside a loaf of bread. The suspect, later identified as Nnamdi Stanley Chibuike, 24, was immediately arrested and taken into custody.
“The recovered weapon has been secured as an exhibit, while an investigation is ongoing to ascertain his possible connection with incidents of armed robbery and kidnapping within the Asaba metropolis and adjoining communities.”
According to Edafe, Commissioner of Police Abaniwonda Olufemi commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and professionalism. He described the arrest as a testament to the Command’s continued intelligence-led policing.
The commissioner also reiterated the police’s commitment to tracking and prosecuting criminals regardless of their methods. He urged residents to remain watchful and share credible information with the authorities, assuring that all reports would be treated confidentially.
