Anambra guber: Police deploy air patrols to ensure peace, transparency

The Nigeria Police Force has heightened aerial surveillance across Anambra State as part of efforts to ensure that Saturday’s governorship election is peaceful, secure, and transparent.

This was contained in a statement released in Awka on Saturday by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Tochukwu Ikenga.

According to Ikenga, “The intensified aerial patrols are being coordinated in synergy with ground troops, marine operatives and tactical units already deployed to strategic locations across the state.”

He explained that the air teams were tasked with monitoring movement patterns, identifying suspicious gatherings, and providing real-time intelligence to field commanders for immediate operational response.

Ikenga reaffirmed that the police remained neutral, professional, and dedicated to safeguarding all citizens, electoral officials, observers, and election materials throughout the exercise.

He appealed to residents to remain peaceful and cooperate with law enforcement personnel carrying out their legitimate duties.

The police spokesman added that adequate arrangements had been made to protect the integrity of the ballot, ensure compliance with the rule of law, and guarantee that every eligible voter could exercise their civic rights without fear or intimidation.
