JUST IN Police declare Sowore wanted

The Lagos State Police Command has declared activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, wanted over allegations that he is planning to incite public unrest and block major roads across the state.

Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, made the announcement on Monday during a press briefing at the Iyana-Oworo axis of the Third Mainland Bridge.

According to him, intelligence reports suggest that Sowore and others are mobilizing to cause disruptions in strategic parts of Lagos under the guise of a protest.

Jimoh stated that security operatives were actively pursuing Sowore and his associates, who were accused of coordinating activities aimed at disrupting public peace and order in Lagos.

According to the commissioner, intelligence reports indicated that the group planned to mobilize people to block major roads and cause traffic chaos in the state.

He assured residents that the police would not allow any individual or group to destabilize the peace and safety of Lagos.

“The Command is closing in on Omoyele Sowore and others involved in this plot. We will ensure that anyone attempting to incite unrest or obstruct public movement is brought to justice,” Jimoh said.

He also urged members of the public to remain calm and go about their lawful activities, while advising them to report any suspicious movements to security agencies.

“Sowore should surrender at the nearest police station or face arrest wherever he is found.

“Anyone attempting to cause disturbance or block our roads will face the full weight of the law,” he said.

According to the Lagos police chief, intelligence reports indicated plans by Sowore and his associates to stage demonstrations at strategic locations, including Third Mainland Bridge, Lekki Tollgate and Freedom Park.
