US War Department preparing for action in Nigeria Hegseth

The United States Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, has indicated that the U.S. is ready to take military steps in response to alleged attacks and killings of Christians in Nigeria, echoing an earlier warning from President Donald Trump that sparked global debate.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Hegseth declared that the U.S. Department of War was gearing up for potential intervention should the Nigerian government fail to safeguard its Christian population.

“The killing of innocent Christians in Nigeria — and anywhere — must end immediately.

“The Department of War is preparing for action.

“Either the Nigerian Government protects Christians, or we will kill the Islamic Terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities,” Hegseth wrote.

The U.S. official’s message followed a similar statement from President Trump on his Truth Social account, where he announced that Washington was preparing for “possible action” and threatened to halt financial support to Nigeria if the reported violence persisted.

The President also warned that all U.S. aid to Nigeria could be suspended unless President Bola Tinubu’s administration stopped what he described as the persecution and killing of Christians.

“If the Nigerian Government continues to allow the killing of Christians, the U.S.A. will immediately stop all aid and assistance to Nigeria, and may very well go into that now disgraced country, ‘guns-a-blazing,’ to completely wipe out the Islamic terrorists who are committing these horrible atrocities.

“I am hereby instructing our Department of War to prepare for possible action. If we attack, it will be fast, vicious, and sweet, just like the terrorist thugs attack our CHERISHED Christians,” Trump wrote.
