Tinubu Decorates Service Chiefs

President Bola  Tinubu has urged the newly appointed service chiefs to act swiftly and firmly against the rise of new security challenges across the country.

Speaking after decorating the new military heads, the President said, “Security threats are constantly evolving, constantly mutating and of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the troublesome areas of North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South.

“We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive. Let us smash the new snakes right in the head,” Tinubu declared.

The President emphasized that Nigerians are eager to witness lasting peace after years of insecurity. “I charge you, as the heads of our nation’s armed forces, to carry out your duties with patriotic zeal. Nigerians expect results, not excuses. We are in a hurry to celebrate peace,” he added.

The decoration ceremony was held on Thursday at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Tinubu had last week carried out a major overhaul of the country’s security leadership, naming new heads for the various branches of the armed forces.

Those decorated included General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, who now serves as Chief of Defence Staff; Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiendeye Undiendeye, appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence; Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Air Marshal Kevin Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Naval Staff.
