Notorious bandit kingpin known for flaunting ‘exploits’ on TikTok killed in Katsina

A notorious bandit kingpin identified as Jankare has been shot dead by a rival faction during a violent clash along the Dutsenma axis of Katsina State.

Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagozola Makama, reported on Thursday that the deadly confrontation stemmed from a disagreement between Jankare and another bandit commander over control of territory and recent criminal activities in the area.

Jankare, who had long instilled fear in communities within Dutsenma and surrounding local government areas, was killed during the fight.

Before his death, the slain bandit was infamous for leading numerous deadly raids, kidnappings, and cattle rustling operations across the region. He also gained notoriety on TikTok, where he frequently displayed firearms and taunted security forces.

Sources revealed that Jankare had recently attended a meeting of bandit leaders aimed at resolving internal disputes and coordinating operations. However, tensions reportedly flared after the meeting, leading to the confrontation that cost him his life.

Security agencies are said to be keeping a close watch on the area to forestall possible revenge attacks between the rival groups.
