CSO lauds military for renewed onslaught against terrorists, applauds Oluyede’s appointment as CDS

A civil society organisation, Unity Advocacy Group (UAG),has lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria for sustaining pressure on bandits and terrorists across the country, following a series of successful operations in the North West and North East.

A statement  signed by UAG Convener, Ifeanyi Aigbedion, on Tuesday said in a recent offensive, troops reportedly neutralised at least 80 armed bandits attempting to infiltrate Kebbi State from the Zamfara border.

It said the latest onslaught was revealed by the Special Adviser to Kebbi Governor on Communication and Strategy, Abdullahi Idris Zuru, in a statement issued on Sunday.

Similarly, troops under Operation Hadin Kai killed 10 terrorists and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and equipment during fresh engagements along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State.

In another operation, four logistics suppliers linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) were neutralised in coordinated ambushes in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.

Meanwhile, the UAG has hailed the appointment of Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), describing him as “equal to the task.”

The group praised his professionalism, noting that during his tenure as Chief of Army Staff, Oluyede demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities.

“We commend the appointment of Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff. We are confident that during his tenure, the Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to deal decisively with agents of darkness who are causing crisis in the country.”

“The new CDS is well tested and equal to the task of leading our troops as we tackle insurgency and banditry in the country,” UAG added.
