Federal University Dutsin Ma gets new Vice Chancellor

The Governing Council of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has announced the appointment of Prof. Mohammed Khalid-Othman as the institution’s substantive Vice-Chancellor.

The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Mr. Ali Abubakar-Jatau, in a statement issued on Saturday in Katsina by Mr. Nasiru Abdul, the university’s Director of Information and Protocol.

According to Abdul, the announcement came after the 36th Special Meeting of the Governing Council held in Dutse, Jigawa State.

He explained that the appointment followed the submission and review of the Report of the Joint Council/Senate Selection Board on the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor.

“The emergence of Prof. Khalid-Othman followed a rigorous selection process involving 17 shortlisted applicants for the position,” the pro-chancellor stated.

He further noted that 28 candidates had applied for the position, while the Search Team identified three additional names to be considered.

“The 17 shortlisted applicants, who were invited for the interview, participated in the rigorous and transparent selection process.

“After which, the selection board submitted the top three performing candidates to the Governing Council to select and approve one of them as the vice-chancellor,” he added.

The new Vice-Chancellor, an Agricultural Engineer, hails from Bindawa Local Government Area of Katsina State and was born on July 22, 1962.
