Kwara : Mystery as soldier found dead after pursuing stick-wielding attacker

A Nigerian Army personnel has been found dead under mysterious circumstances after chasing an unknown assailant in Twatagi village, Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagozola Makama, reported that the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on October 21, 2025.
The deceased, identified as Private Usman Alhaji, was attached to Apapa, Lagos, and was said to be riding a motorcycle with one Muhammad Baba, a native of Twatagi village, at the time of the attack.
According to the report, the duo were on their way to Patigi town when they encountered a man walking along the road carrying a stick. The man allegedly struck them as they passed and immediately fled into the bush.
Private Alhaji reportedly pursued the assailant on foot but never returned. After waiting several hours, Muhammad Baba began searching for him without success.

The following day, around 2:00 p.m., villagers discovered the soldier’s lifeless body in the bush.
Police officers who visited the scene said the victim had sustained a stab wound to the neck.
The body was later released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the suspect.
