APC : Why the purported suspension of Adamu Ototobor cannot stand, By Aliu Salihu

The purported suspension of Adamu Ototobor as the All Progressive Congress (APC) Ward 9 chairman in Etsako East Local Government of Edo State by the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, has been called into question due to significant procedural flaws and a glaring lack of substantiated allegations.
The ward executive members, who are crucial stakeholders in this matter, have not reported any acts of insubordination, a claim that forms the basis of the suspension. Furthermore, it has been established that no formal complaint was lodged with the Acting Chairman prior to his decision, raising serious doubts about the legitimacy and motivations behind the suspension.
The Acting Chairman’s hasty conclusion, devoid of thorough investigation or due process, undermines the principles of fairness and natural justice. In any organizational or political setting, adherence to established procedures and respect for the rights of elected officials are paramount. The suspension of Adamu Ototobor appears to be a unilateral action, lacking the required backing of documented misconduct or consensus among ward members.
Given the absence of concrete evidence of misconduct, it is unequivocal that Adamu Ototobor remains the elected Chairman of Ward 9 in Etsako East Local Government Area, Edo State. His mandate, bestowed upon him by the people, should be respected and protected. The APC, as a political party, should uphold democratic values and ensure that internal processes are transparent, fair, and in line with its constitution.
The implications of this suspension, if allowed to stand, could set a dangerous precedent, undermining the stability and credibility of local governance structures. It is imperative that the party leadership reconsiders this decision, prioritizing due process and the will of the electorate. Adamu Ototobo’s suspension is not just a challenge to his leadership but a test of the APC’s commitment to democratic principles and internal democracy.
In conclusion, the suspension of Adamu Ototobor is fraught with procedural irregularities and lacks substantive grounds. It is crucial that the party adheres to its rules and respects the democratic mandate of its elected officials. Upholding these principles will reinforce the integrity of the APC and ensure that elected representatives like Adamu Ototobo can serve their constituents without fear of arbitrary actions.
Comrade Chief Aliu Salihu.
