The Kebbi State Government has dismissed reports circulating in sections of the media and on social platforms alleging that it engaged a Chinese security company, G-Safety, to help combat banditry and other criminal activities within the state.

In a statement released on Friday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, described the publication as “false, misleading, and unfounded,” urging the public to disregard it entirely.

“The attention of the Kebbi State Government has been drawn to a recent media report claiming that the State Government has hired a Chinese security firm, G-Safety, to combat banditry and related crimes in the state.

“The Government wishes to categorically state that no such agreement or contract has been signed with any foreign security company,” the statement read in part.

Idris clarified that Governor Nasir Idris’s administration has not entered into any form of partnership or agreement with any foreign firm. He emphasised that the state government remains committed to improving security through collaboration with existing Nigerian security agencies, including the Armed Forces, the Police, and other paramilitary organisations.

He reiterated that ensuring lasting peace, safeguarding lives and property, and maintaining the safety of all residents remain top priorities for the administration.

The governor’s spokesman also cautioned media outlets and the public to confirm information from official sources before publishing or sharing it, warning that the spread of false or unverified reports could mislead citizens.
