BREAKING 2026 W Cup Super Eagles beat Benin Republic but South Africa get automatic qualification

The Super Eagles capped off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign in style with a commanding 4–0 victory over Benin Republic on Tuesday evening.

Nigeria entered the final fixture needing a strong performance after securing a 2–1 win against Lesotho last weekend to keep their qualification hopes alive.

The Eagles wasted no time asserting dominance, as Victor Osimhen opened the scoring within the first three minutes. He added a second just before halftime with a powerful header, giving Nigeria firm control in Uyo.

Osimhen completed his hat-trick in the second half, cementing his standout performance, while Frank Onyeka capped the win with a superbly struck volley to make it 4–0.

The result ensures Nigeria finish second in Group C, behind South Africa, who thrashed Rwanda 3–0 to secure the automatic qualification spot.

Eric Chelle’s men must now wait to see whether they will claim a place among the four best runners-up from Africa.
