Gunmen ambush police patrol in Benue

Two policemen sustained gunshot wounds after coming under attack by unknown gunmen along Ogobia–Adoka Road in Otukpo Local Government Area, Benue State.
The incident, which occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday, was confirmed on Monday by Zagazola, citing sources close to the matter. The injured officers, identified as Inspector Amos Okoh and Inspector Joseph Adowebo, were on routine patrol duty when the armed assailants ambushed them.
Authorities are currently investigating the attack, while security measures in the area have reportedly been heightened to prevent further incidents and ensure the safety of residents and law enforcement personnel.
The sources added that upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Adoka mobilised a patrol team to the scene and evacuated the injured officers to the Teaching Hospital in Otukpo.
The injured policemen are said to be responding to treatment.
Meanwhile, the Command has launched a manhunt for the attackers to ensure their arrest and prosecution.
It also urged residents of the area to remain calm and provide useful information that could assist in apprehending the perpetrators.
