Trump nominated for 2025 Nobel Peace Prize

Malta’s Foreign Minister, Ian Borg, has announced that he nominated United States President, Donald Trump, for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, crediting him for brokering peace deals between Armenia and Azerbaijan and for pursuing efforts to end wars in the Middle East and Ukraine.
In a post shared on Facebook, Borg said his decision was inspired by Trump’s role in recent peace negotiations, including an accord signed at the White House in August between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which the U.S. president hailed as “historic.”
The Maltese minister also referred to Thursday’s agreement between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas, which established a ceasefire and arranged an exchange of prisoners and hostages — the first phase of Trump’s wider initiative to end the Gaza conflict.
Borg posted a photograph of himself meeting Trump, saying: “I handed the U.S. president a letter I wrote in my own name, in which I informed him that, like many others, I have nominated him for the Nobel Peace Prize.”
“I also urged him to continue working on the Middle East and Ukraine,” he added, noting he was “pleased today to see increased commitment that is bringing us closer to peace.”
The Nobel Committee will announce the 2025 Peace Prize winner on Friday, although nominations for the award closed on January 31.
