Angry mob lynches 3 men accused of murder in Edo

Tragedy struck the Emu Orakwan community in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, as three men were killed by a mob on Monday, October 6, 2025. The men were accused of involvement in kidnapping and murder.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when local hunters and farmers spotted the suspects at Akabueze camp. Tensions escalated quickly, culminating in the fatal mob attack.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the men were allegedly linked to the murder of a woman, identified as Mrs. Ogbonna, which took place on October 1.
The lifeless body of the mother of three was discovered in a nearby farm with multiple stab wounds, sparking outrage and vows of retribution from residents.
It was gathered that upon receiving the information, villagers and farmers mobilised and descended on the suspects, inflicting severe injuries on them before the arrival of security operatives.
“These animals have been terrorising us for months, kidnapping our women, demanding ransoms we can’t pay and now this,” a farmer said.
“When we saw them, we knew we couldn’t wait for the police anymore. They m8rdered Mrs. Ogbona in cold blood; no one was going to let them escape justice.”
Army troops accompanied by police personnel, moved swiftly to the scene and met the suspects at the point of d3ath.
They were immediately taken to the General Hospital, where they were confirmed d3ad.
Their remains have been deposited at Imiuwuguina Mortuary, while investigation into the incident is ongoing.
