JUST IN: Sebastien Lecornu resigns as France’s Prime Minister

In a surprising political twist, France’s Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, has resigned just hours after unveiling his newly formed cabinet.
The Elysée Palace confirmed his resignation on Monday, shortly after Lecornu held a one-hour meeting with President Emmanuel Macron.
Lecornu, who succeeded François Bayrou less than a month ago, stepped down amid mounting criticism over the composition of his cabinet. Opposition parties in the National Assembly had condemned the new lineup, arguing that it largely mirrored Bayrou’s administration.
Several political blocs had also threatened to reject the cabinet, accusing Lecornu of failing to introduce fresh faces or meaningful reforms.
