W’Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria’s coach calls up late replacements as injuries hit Super Eagles squad

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has made two late changes to his team ahead of Nigeria’s final qualification fixtures for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The national team is scheduled to take on Lesotho on October 10 and Benin Republic on October 14, as the qualification campaign reaches its decisive stage.

Chelle had earlier released a 23-man list for the double-header on Friday. However, injuries to Cyril Dessers and Bright Osayi-Samuel have forced the coach to make last-minute adjustments to his selection.

Nigeria currently sit third in Group C with 11 points. Benin Republic and South Africa occupy the top two spots with 14 points each, though South Africa were recently docked three points by FIFA for fielding an ineligible player.
