UK : Kemi Badenoch unveils ‘radical borders plan,’ vows to deport 150,000 illegal migrants annually

United Kingdom Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has unveiled a sweeping immigration overhaul she described as “the toughest reforms Britain has ever seen” in an effort to strengthen the country’s borders.
In a video message posted on her X account on Sunday, Badenoch introduced her Radical Borders Plan and announced the creation of a new Removals Force, modelled on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with a target of deporting 150,000 illegal migrants annually.
“My message is clear: if you’re here illegally, you will be detained and deported,” she said.
Badenoch criticised successive governments—both Conservative and Labour—for what she called years of failure to tackle the migration crisis. She accused Labour of presiding over record levels of illegal crossings and wasting public funds on asylum accommodations.
“Our new Removals Force, modelled on US ICE, will deport 150,000 illegal migrants each year,” she wrote.
In her video address, Badenoch said: “Today, I’m launching our Radical Borders Plan, the toughest reforms Britain has ever seen to border laws and operations. Successive governments have failed on immigration. Labour promised to smash the gangs.“Instead, in just a year, they delivered record small boat crossings. Over 50,000 illegal arrivals. 32,000 people in asylum hotels.“Billions wasted. It’s pure weakness. Britain needs a serious, credible plan and the backbone to deliver it.”
The plan proposes a series of stringent measures, including banning asylum claims for illegal entrants, withdrawing from the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), and repealing the Human Rights Act. It also seeks to deport illegal arrivals within a week, remove legal barriers to mass deportations, and impose visa restrictions on nations refusing to take back their citizens.
Badenoch said the reforms would “shut down the asylum hotel racket,” save billions in taxpayer money, and rebuild public trust in the border system.
“Only the Conservatives have a serious, credible plan to deliver stronger borders,” she added. “If you come here illegally, you will be deported.”
