2027 : It’s my turn to govern Oyo – Power Minister

Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has declared that it is his turn to govern Oyo State come 2027.
Adelabu, who previously contested for the governorship position under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2019, was defeated by the incumbent Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ahead of the 2023 elections, he left the APC for the Accord Party, where he once again ran against Makinde but was unsuccessful. Following his appointment as Minister of Power by President Bola Tinubu in 2023, Adelabu returned to the APC.
In a viral video from a stakeholders’ meeting with APC leaders, the minister was seen openly declaring his ambition to contest again in 2027.
Speaking in Yoruba, Adelabu echoed President Tinubu’s popular slogan “Èmi ló kàn” (meaning “It’s my turn”), asserting that he has earned his place in the state’s political landscape.
“I have been on this journey for a while now. I believe it’s not the day you start politics that you begin to reap the benefits.“I have now paid my dues. I contested against Seyi (Makinde) in 2019. In 2023, I also contested against Seyi, then as the sitting governor. But this 2027, God has shown that it’s my turn.“It’s Adelabu time. Anything that belongs to Adelabu belongs to us all,” he said.
Adelabu called on APC members and supporters to unite behind his ambition and work collectively to reclaim Oyo State from the PDP.
“I’m ready to take the lead to embark on a house-to-house campaign, day and night, to beg our people in order to work together and reap the benefits,” he added.
