NSCDC commandant slumps, dies during event

Tragedy struck in Benin City on Thursday as the Edo State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gbenga Agun, suddenly collapsed and died while attending a public function.
Agun was participating in a programme organised by the International Association of World Peace Advocates when he reportedly slumped shortly after delivering his keynote address.
He was immediately rushed to the Military Hospital along Airport Road, Benin City, but doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
As of press time, both the Edo State Command and the national headquarters of the NSCDC had not issued an official statement regarding his passing.
