Palestinian leader meets ex-minister in Abuja after one month in detention

A Palestinian community leader in Nigeria, Abu Ibrahim, who spent one month in the custody of security agencies, has been released and reunited with former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, in Abuja.
Ibrahim was detained by Nigerian security and intelligence operatives over alleged security concerns but was later cleared of wrongdoing.
Fani-Kayode, in a statement on Thursday, described Ibrahim’s release as a relief and praised the professionalism of the agencies involved.
“It was an honour and privilege to receive my brother Abu Ramzy Ibrahim in my home after his release. I commend the security agencies for handling the matter with professionalism and for respecting his rights throughout the process,” the former minister said.
He further highlighted Ibrahim’s deep ties to Nigeria, noting that although Palestinian by birth, he has lived in the country for over three decades, studied at Obafemi Awolowo University, and speaks both Hausa and Yoruba fluently.
According to Fani-Kayode, Ibrahim is not only the leader of the Palestinian community in Nigeria but also a respected historian and advocate for peace.
“He is a man of peace, an embodiment of loyalty and integrity, and a strong voice against the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the West Bank,” Fani-Kayode added.
The ex-minister praised Ibrahim’s resilience, describing him as an inspiration whose ordeal had strengthened calls for justice for the Palestinian people.
