Nigerian gov orders immediate dissolution of boards, commissions

One of the governors in the southern part of the country, Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State , has directed the immediate dissolution of all statutory and non-statutory boards and commissions across the state.
The announcement was made in Uyo on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Enobong Uwah, who commended the outgoing members for their service.
According to Uwah, the governor acted under the authority of Section 6 of the Statutory Boards (Special Provisions) Law, 2023.
He explained that the dissolution takes effect immediately. “The governor wishes members of the dissolved boards and commissions well in their future endeavours,” Uwah said.
“The governor commends them for the roles they have played towards achieving the promises contained in the ARISE Agenda,” he added.
Uwah further directed all former chairmen of the affected bodies to hand over government assets in their custody to the most senior officials within their respective establishments.
