The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has announced the commencement of the recently approved pension increments for retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

In a statement released on Tuesday, PTAD confirmed that the new increments ₦32,000, 10.66 percent, and 12.95 percent, depending on eligibility have already been captured in the September 2025 pension payroll cycle.

According to the Directorate, the adjustment was made possible following the partial release of ₦420.188 million from the ₦45 billion emergency funding earlier approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support pension reforms.

“This milestone clearly reaffirms the Federal Government’s dedication to safeguarding the welfare and entitlements of DBS Pensioners in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the Directorate said.

The management of PTAD expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for approving the emergency funding, which it said would enhance the welfare of beneficiaries and reposition the Defined Benefit Scheme administration.

The Directorate also commended the support of key government officials, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite; Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Special Adviser to the President on Revenue, Dr. Zacch Adedeji; and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Shamseldeen Ogunjimi.
