Davido reveals he almost quit music before hit collaboration with Omah Lay

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about a challenging moment in his career, revealing that he almost walked away from music.

In a recently surfaced interview, the multiple award-winning singer admitted that he was close to quitting the industry shortly before releasing his chart-topping track “With You” featuring Omah Lay.

Davido confessed he never anticipated the song would become the standout success of his latest album. However, the track’s massive reception reignited his passion for music at a time when he was questioning his future after more than a decade in the spotlight.

“Some artists get that kind of song at the start of their careers, others in the middle. For me, 13–14 years in, I was even thinking of bowing out. Then God blessed me with this song. It added more life to my journey,” Davido said.

The singer described the timing of the record as divine, noting that it came just when he was preparing to slow down, and he has since renewed his drive in the industry.
