Ex-DIG of Police, Parry Osayande, is dead

Retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Parry Osayande, has died in Benin City, just a few hours before he would have turned 89.
Born on September 29, 1936, Osayande’s death was confirmed on Sunday in a condolence statement by the President of the Immaculate Conception College Old Boys’ Association (ICCOBA) Worldwide, Ighodalo Edetanlen.
Osayande enjoyed a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, serving as Commissioner of Police in both Benue and Cross River States before rising through the ranks to become a Deputy Inspector General. He later went on to chair the Police Service Commission, where he played a notable role in advancing reforms within the force.
In his tribute, Engr. Edetanlen described the loss as deeply painful and called for solidarity with the family.“While we mourn, let us also uphold the family he left behind in prayers in this moment of grief,” he said.
He noted that funeral arrangements would be made known at a later date.“May God grant him and all the faithful departed eternal rest in Jesus Name, Amen,” Edetanlen added.
