Federal university approves promotion of 33 to professorial rank (+FULL LIST)

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has approved the promotion of 33 academic staff, including 10 who attained the rank of professor and 23 others elevated to associate professor.

Nuradeen Abdu, Registrar of the institution, confirmed the development in a statement issued to journalists on Friday in Lafia.

He explained that the promotions were endorsed at the council’s 24th regular meeting, held between Sept. 24 and Sept. 25.

“Those promoted to the rank of professor include Dr Igono Joseph, Department of French, Dr Muhammad Kabiru-Dahiru, Department of Geography, Dr Dlama Zira-Joseph, Department of Radiography, Dr Ogwola Idoko-Robert, Department of Public Administration, and Dr Onwuka Jude-Chinedu, of the Department of Science Laboratory Technology.

“Others are, Dr Binin Etsuyankpa-Muhammad, Department of Chemistry, Dr Johnson Akinade-Bamikola, Department of Physics, Dr Ogah Musa-Ari, Department of Political Science, Dr Charity Justin-Takyun, Department of Psychology, and Dr Stephen Sunday-Ojo the Department of Sociology,” the registrar stated.

He added that the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shehu Abdul-Rahman, conveyed the council’s congratulations to the newly promoted scholars.

According to him, the VC expressed optimism that their elevation would further strengthen FULafia’s academic profile, while also urging the beneficiaries to work harder in order to justify the confidence placed in them.
