Bauchi : Local Govt chairman dies after brief illness

The Chairman of Dambam Local Government Area in Bauchi State, Yakubu Tela, has died following a brief illness.
His passing was confirmed on Saturday through a statement issued by Mukhtar Gidado, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Bala Mohammed.
Governor Mohammed described Tela as “a dedicated public servant, grassroots mobilizer and community leader who devoted his life to the service of his people and the development of Dambam Local Government.”
The statement read: “It is with heavy heart and deep sorrow that the Bauchi State Government announces the death of the Chairman, Dambam Local Government Council, Hon. Yakubu Garba Tela, who died today after a brief illness.”
Offering condolences, the governor extended sympathy to the family of the late chairman, the people of Dambam, his colleagues in the local government system, and Bauchi State at large.
Governor Mohammed further remarked that the late council boss would be remembered for his humility, commitment to duty, and contributions to grassroots governance. He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him eternal rest, and give his family and associates the strength to bear the loss.
According to the statement, the funeral prayer for Tela will take place today at 2:00pm at Misau Central Mosque.
Before his death, Tela had served in key roles within the local government, including Head of Department, Head of Administration, and later Executive Chairman of Dambam Local Government.
