The Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC) has disengaged four judicial officers from service after repeatedly failing promotion examinations.

Adamu Usman, Chairman of the Commission’s Sub-committee on Information, disclosed this during a press briefing in Minna on Tuesday.

According to him, the affected staff include three officers from the High Court and one from the Sharia Court of Appeal. He explained that the decision followed their failure to pass the promotion exam three consecutive times while seeking elevation to higher positions.

Usman said that, „ The commission resolved and advised them to leave the service in accordance with order 8 rule (4) (f) of the commission‘s regulation 2025“.

He also disclosed that the NJSC has also constituted a committee to investigate allegations of serious misconduct against one Mohammed Shaba for circulation of disparaging video clip on social media against the Chief Judge of Niger State and the entire Judiciary.

He said the matter was reported by the chief registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal, adding that, „ The commission deliberated on the report and constituted a four- man sub committee in accordance with order 6(1)(c) of the commission‘s regulation 2025 to conduct further investigation on the matter „.
Hon Usman explained it was necessary to give the affected judicial staff fair hearing on the matter.

Meanwhile the commission has employed 100 judicial staff including 10 magistrates.

He said, „ The Commission considered and adopted minutes of meetings of 150th, 151st and 152nd , all arising from the recruitment of 100 staff as approved by Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for the Commission“.

Meanwhile he said that the commission approved the issuance of retirement notification to four staff from High Court and six from Sharia Court of Appeal and confirmed issuance of death certificate in respect of two deceased staff from High Court and Sharia Court of Appeal respectively.
