Police in Kano have apprehended a 30-year-old man, Mutawakilu Ibrahim, for allegedly killing his grandparents during a quarrel over food.

The incident took place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Kofar Dawanau Quarters in Kano metropolis, according to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.

Police reports revealed that Ibrahim got into a heated exchange with his grandfather, Muhammad Dansokoto, 75, and grandmother, Hadiza Tasidi, 65. In the course of the argument, he allegedly attacked them with a knife, inflicting multiple wounds.

He also confirmed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed the case to be handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Homicide Section, for thorough investigation.

“The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the statement added.
