Enugu senator dumps Labour Party for APC

Senator Kelvin Chukwu, representing Enugu East Senatorial District, has officially defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmaker made the announcement on Wednesday during a town hall meeting at the village market square, where he briefed his constituents on his activities and achievements in the Senate.
Explaining his decision, Senator Chukwu cited the lingering internal crisis within the Labour Party, noting that the infighting has weakened the party and adversely affected its members. He said joining the APC would provide him with a stronger platform to deliver on his promises and push for the development of Enugu East.
He further that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was equally currently swimming in a deep mess, noting that moving to the PDP was not an option.
Chukwu declared that he would formally declare for his new party at the floor of the Senate during plenary when the lawmakers resume.
The senator expressed appreciation to the people for his support since assuming office at the National Assembly, and promised not to let them down.
