Nigerian business mogul, Oscar Ibru, dies at 67

Nigeria has lost one of its leading business magnates, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, billionaire businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, who died at the age of 67.
His family announced the sad news on Tuesday, confirming that he passed away after a brief illness, though further details were not disclosed.
Oskar Ibru was a prominent heir of the renowned Ibru dynasty, a household name in Nigeria’s business landscape. He played a pivotal role in sustaining and expanding the family’s conglomerate founded by his late father, Olorogun Michael Ibru, which has interests across shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.
Beyond business, he was regarded as a custodian of his family’s legacy, ensuring the Ibru Organisation remained a leading brand in Nigeria while supporting philanthropic and cultural causes.
His death comes as another painful moment for the Ibru family, nearly a decade after the passing of the dynasty’s patriarch, Michael Ibru, in 2016.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
