The state commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Delta State Command, Chinedu F. Igbo has urged the people of Delta State to rise up to the call for a new, deliberate and result-oriented approach to peace building, as the world marks International Day of Peace.

A statement from DSC Anthony Uchenna, CDPRO, Delta State Command, noted that Commandant Igbo used the occasion to call for peaceful coexistence especially in the Warri axis of the state, where the recent delineation process has brought up crisis,

The World Peace Day which is celebrated yearly on the 21st of September as declared by the United Nations General Assembly is an opportunity for the entire world to appreciate the importance of Peace to the growth and advancement of every aspect of human life and existence.

This year focuses on the theme *”ACT NOW FOR A PEACEFUL WORLD”.* The theme seeks to drive home the need to be proactive and take steps to tackle anything or anyone who intends to cause or constitute a breach of peace.

Commandant Igbo urged all parties involved to embrace a peaceful approach to resolving their differences in the interest of peace in the State.

The celebration in the state command began with a peace walk, and also featured a workshop aimed at sensitizing the public on the need to act proactively to nip all anti-peace activities in the bud.

The workshop which was attended by other sister security agencies and other relevant stakeholders led to the discovery of various new ideas and approaches to better push for peace in the society at large.

Commandant Igbo assured Deltans that NSCDC Delta will leave no stone unturned in the fight to achieve a peaceful Delta.
