Nigerian governor declares public holiday

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has declared Tuesday, September 23, 2025, a public holiday in celebration of the state’s 38th anniversary.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, the governor directed that all government offices and public institutions across the state observe the day as work-free.
Governor Eno, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), extended his goodwill to citizens and residents of the state, urging them to mark the anniversary with joy and in the spirit of peace and unity.
The public holiday is part of activities lined up to honor the creation of Akwa Ibom State in 1987 and to reflect on its achievements and progress over the years.
