How we gunned down 3 Abuja notorious kidnappers after tracking them to Zindar Forest

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has narrated how three  notorious gunmen behind string of kidnappings in Abuja were gunned down after tracking them to their hideout in Zinda Forest, bordering Nasarawa State.

A statement signed by FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, on Saturday, said the gunmen were traced to their hideout after they carried out two major abductions within two days.

The statement reads: “The FCT Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime. On 15th September 2025, armed men attempted to abduct two young ladies in Kpobi and Kpaduma 3 Villages, Guzape District.

“The attackers used the victims as human shields in their bid to escape. Swift response by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, who personally led tactical operatives to the scene, ensured the safe rescue of the victims unhurt. Sadly, a community vigilante, Bako Pwaza, lost his life in the attack.

“On 17th September 2025, the same gang abducted one Mr. Nafiu Idris in Karu. Following credible intelligence, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, supported by local hunters and vigilantes, launched a clearance operation. On 18th September 2025, at about 7:30 a.m., the gang’s hideout in Zinda Forest, bordering Nasarawa State, was stormed. A fierce gun duel ensued, during which the gang leader, Abdullahi Umar a.k.a. Duna, and two of his lieutenants, Buba Ahmadi a.k.a. Killer and Habi Sule a.k.a. Mai-Kudi, were neutralized.

“Recovered items include two (2) AK-49 rifles, two (2) magazines with seven (7) rounds of live ammunition, two (2) mobile phones, ATM cards, charms, animal horns, and ₦10,000 cash. Preliminary investigation links Duna and his gang to several kidnappings in Karu, Guzape, Kpobi, and other parts of Nasarawa State. Their planned attack on a Karu resident was foiled by the successful dislodgement of their camp.

“The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their bravery and professionalism, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities via the Commands emergency Lines: 08032003913, 08028940883.”
