Benue governor’s aide abducted by gunmen

Terver Atu Joseph, Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilization to Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, throwing his family, colleagues, and the state political circle into panic.
Benue activist, Ukan Kurugh, disclosed that Joseph’s wife confirmed he was able to place a distress call shortly before his phone went off. During the brief call, he informed her of his abduction and asked that his mother be notified.
Efforts to trace his whereabouts or re-establish contact have so far proven unsuccessful, leaving his family in deep worry.
Details surrounding the abduction remain sketchy as of the time of this report.
Meanwhile, his family has appealed to security agencies to urgently intervene and ensure his safe return.
