Nigerian Air Force strikes Sambisa forest, neutralises over 20 terrorists

The Nigerian military has scored another major success in the fight against insurgency, with the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai eliminating more than 20 terrorists in Borno State.
According to security sources quoted by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the operation was carried out on September 15 in the Bula Madibale area of Gezuwa, within the Sambisa Forest in Bama Local Government Area.
The airstrike followed credible intelligence received from the Watchkeeper platform, which revealed that terrorists had converged for a meeting at the location. Acting swiftly, the military deployed a force package to the area at about 2:25 p.m., destroying the meeting point and neutralising several fighters.
“Overhead the area, the crew observed multiple network footpaths leading to suspected terrorists’ enclaves, with a flag hoisted near a meeting point under a tree.
“The aircraft acquired and engaged the target. The strike neutralised over 20 terrorists while others were seen fleeing the location,” he said.
He added that the meeting point and the flag symbolising the terrorists’ presence were destroyed during the operation.
