Tragedy as ward head killed by abductors in Plateau

The people of Shuwaka community in Kyaram District, Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State, have been thrown into mourning following the abduction and killing of their ward head, Malam Hudu Hassan Barau.
The Kanam Development Association (KDA) confirmed the tragic development in a statement signed by its Chairman, Barr. Garba G. Aliyu, and Secretary, ND Shehu Kanam.
According to the association, the community leader’s body was found on Monday morning, six days after he was abducted. His remains were discovered in the bush around Wanka forest, sending shock waves across the district.
The secretary said, “This heart-wrenching incident is a stark reminder of the persistent insecurity and banditry that has plagued our communities for far too long. Despite our repeated pleas and warnings, the government across all levels has failed to take decisive action to address this menace.
“The people of Garga and surrounding areas are living in constant fear, and it is imperative that our leaders take immediate and concrete steps to ensure their safety and security.
“The government must act now to restore peace and stability to our community. We stand in solidarity with the family of the deceased and the entire community, and we will continue to advocate for their rights and safety. May Allah have mercy on the soul of the Ward Head Shuwaka (Mal. Hudu Hassan Barau),” he said.
Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Alabo Alfred, has yet to respond to the inquiry regarding the development as of press time.
