Soludo s wife dares Ekwunife to paternity test promises cash reward if results clear her husband

Political tensions in Anambra took a dramatic turn on Friday as Mrs. Nonye Soludo, wife of Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, threw a direct challenge at Senator Uche Ekwunife, the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mrs. Soludo dared the senator to swear an oath of fidelity before the Blessed Virgin Mary and submit her children for paternity tests in response to allegations made against her.

Ekwunife had earlier claimed that Mrs. Soludo maintained a close relationship with, and once worked for, former governor Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju. But in a strongly worded statement, the governor’s wife dismissed the claims as fabricated lies intended to tarnish her reputation and drag her family into political mudslinging.

She described the remarks as malicious and warned of legal action unless Ekwunife retracts her statements and apologises within 72 hours.

Mrs Soludo proposed a public oath to settle character disputes, stating: “Since Uche Ekwunife claims to be a converted Catholic, I challenge her for both of us to swear an oath of fidelity and chastity at any cathedral in front of the Blessed Sacrament and the Bible.”

“I will swear (with my children) that in my 55 years on earth, I have known only one man, Chukwuma Soludo.”

“On your part, you should also swear (with your children or your political ambitions) that since you got married, you have never cheated on your husband.”

She also called for paternity tests at three reputable London hospitals, offering to cover all expenses: “If the results confirm that your husband fathered all your children, I will not only congratulate you but also present a cash award,” she said.

Describing herself as a quiet woman from a conservative Christian background, Mrs Soludo said she married the governor as a virgin and had been faithful throughout their 33 years of marriage. She emphasised that she had never worked in government nor depended on public funds, even as First Lady.

“My weapons are decency, character, and grace. I am a long-distance runner, and I welcome you to the marathon,” she said.

The clash between the two women stems from Governor Soludo’s earlier questioning of Ekwunife’s academic qualifications, prompting her sharp response and drawing the First Lady into the political feud.
