SSDC to work closely with EFCC, vows strict adherence to financial laws

The South-South Development Commission (SSDC) has expressed its readiness to work closely with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to guarantee full compliance with financial regulations and ensure accountability in its operations.
Managing Director of SSDC, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, made this known on Thursday during a courtesy visit to EFCC Chairman, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja.
The discussion, which centered on building strong institutional safeguards, underscored the commission’s commitment to operate on principles of transparency and integrity from the onset.
Akpabio commended the EFCC for its central role in protecting Nigeria’s economy and applauded the reforms championed under Olukoyede’s leadership.
Reaffirming SSDC’s zero-tolerance stance on financial crimes, she said: “We are committed to aligning our activities with the EFCC’s stringent standards for financial compliance right from the outset.”
She further highlighted SSDC’s core mandate of driving development in the South-South region, while seeking EFCC’s collaboration in areas such as cybercrime training for staff and joint public enlightenment campaigns against financial crimes.
Responding, EFCC Chairman Olukoyede welcomed the initiative, stressing that strict adherence to financial laws and anti-corruption frameworks was non-negotiable. He assured SSDC of the EFCC’s partnership in risk assessments, capacity building, and awareness programmes.
Olukoyede also pointed to the EFCC Academy’s national certification to deliver training and urged SSDC to stay focused on improving lives and strengthening governance in the region.
