Nigerian gov declares public holiday

The Kano State Government has declared Friday, September 12, as a public holiday in honor of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
According to a statement released on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the holiday coincides with the Maulud celebration, which falls on the 19th of Rabi’ul Awwal 1447 AH in the Islamic calendar.
Waiya calls on civil servants, private sector members, and the general public to observe the holiday peacefully and in accordance with the Prophet’s teachings.
He encourages citizens to reflect on unity, tolerance, and obedience, and urges prayers for peace and progress.
The Government extends warm felicitations, wishing citizens a peaceful Maulud celebration.
